Ford has finally graced our American shores with a Focus wielding the RS badge, and we couldn't be happier. We wanted to improve and upgrade a lot of things on this car and among those priorities had to be an intake. Our engineers have spent many hours in development, performing a plethora of tests and data collection. This Is a full intake, replacing every core component in the OEM system including the airbox and the intake pipe. Our kit includes a 3in, aluminum pipe that routes all the way to the turbo, with all of the necessary bracketry to accommodate a perfect fit.The airbox has a similar design to the stock airbox, facilitating an improvemed pressure drop with an open top, exposing the filter to more air and sealing the box against the hood, keeping it fully enclosed. This airbox uses the factory air inlet ducts, grabbing air right from the front of the car and the ports are surrounded with weather stripping to avoid movement. We have put this intake through hundreds of miles of road testing and countless dyno runs to ensure repeatable and reliable max gains of 12 hp and 15 ft-lbs of torque that is safe on a stock tune. When you’re trying to make power, airflow is critical. Reducing restriction within the intake and exhaust systems is the most sensible way to improve engine efficiency. However, if you have a 1.8T/2.0T MK7 with an upgraded air intake, there might be something you’re missing. The air intake system on the MQB platform mates to the turbocharger via a plastic turbocharger inlet pipe. Our team has found that this component is quite restrictive and in desperate need of enhancement. Mishimoto’s Turbo Inlet Pipe for the MK7 chassis is constructed from durable, CNC-machined cast aluminum. Compared to the stock plastic unit, this is far more durable and eliminates any chances of long-term part degradation. Along with durability, we’ve also increased internal volume and enhanced the pathway of air. These design alterations result in significant improvements in airflow and a quicker turbo spool. This turbo inlet pipe fits with the stock intake, the Mishimoto Performance Intake , and most aftermarket intake systems. Enhancing the S58 was something we set our sights on soon after acquiring a G80 of our own, the first project being our air intake system. Airbox volume, shape, and construction material all play a part in delivering maximum airflow to your engine. Our engineering team created extremely precise rotational-molded thermoplastic airboxes that eliminate restrictions, supply maximum cool-air entry via two additional ports that open to the wheel wells, and improve engine bay aesthetics. The use of thermoplastic material ensures the air intake system will incur minimum engine bay heat soak and provides unmatched durability for years of service in the harshest environments. Our airboxes were designed using the latest in 3D printing, CAD modeling, and flow bench technology. As a result, we reduced air intake restriction by 13 percent on the driver-side intake tract and 22.8 percent on the passenger-side intake tract. For proper filtration, this kit includes dual high-flow oiled air filters which provide improved filter surface area and improved airflow over the stock panel filters. The stock turbo inlet pipe is a very sturdy cast-aluminum component that supplies ample airflow for stock and lightly modified vehicles. Despite this, the internal pathway leaves room for improvement for those seeking maximum airflow. Using the latest in 3D printing, CAD modeling, and flow bench technology, we created an optimal pathway for airflow from the air intake box to the turbocharger. These enhancements result in an inlet pipe that is 16.7-percent less restrictive than the stock unit. Our 2017-2021 Civic Type R turbo inlet tube is constructed with a robust CNC-machined cast-aluminum turbo compressor inlet connection flange. This mating surface is designed to OEM specifications, providing a perfect bolt-on fit. The upper portion of the tube is fabricated from mandrel-bent aluminum piping, which is professionally TIG welded to the cast lower. This kit includes a 4-ply silicone coupler to mate the Mishimoto Performance Intake MAF housing with our new inlet tube, as well as high-quality stainless steel worm-gear clamps and an EVAP hose adapter flange to make installation a breeze. We offer the option of either red or black powder-coated finish, providing an excellent aesthetic upgrade for your engine bay.
